Renovation Underwriting, the MGA that offers specialist renovation capacity and expertise, has announced the arrival of a new hire in a broker-facing role. In a change from the norm and embracing digital technology, our new RU employee is virtual, has no physical form and instead of being office-based, will only exist in the cloud, hovering somewhere between the RU locations of London and St Neots.

Introducing DUA, our Digital Underwriting Assistant, whose sole focus will be to support to our brokers. She is our new AI Chatbot, designed to be the first port of call for those queries that may not necessitate a phone call. Friendly, helpful and fast, DUA will sit in our underwriting portal, accessible from the RU Broker Hub and will be on hand to help with questions concerning renovation insurance. She is definitely not here to replace your existing contacts but instead make your experience smoother and provide clarity on your next steps.

I'm pleased to be bringing in further support for our fantastic underwriting team and welcome DUA to help all our valued brokers. DUA possesses expert knowledge of contract works and is available at your beck and call, working all day and all night. There’ll be no out of office, no holidays and no unexpected trips to the dentist – it’s ok, we’ve cleared it all with HR! She may however need the odd hour of downtime, but we all need some maintenance now and again!

It’s a genuine privilege to work with such an amazing team including our expert underwriters. Joining us from the world of AI, she is knowledgeable in underwriting and fluent in broker-speak. Given that she is in the early days of her career with us, she may not know the most complex aspects of contract works, but the human members of our underwriting team will still be on hand to guide you through the trickier elements of renovation cover. While her aim is to provide you with the information you require, she is not a definitive source of insurance advice and will not be making underwriting decisions.

While in her probationary period, we would be keen to know how DUA is working with our brokers. Any feedback you can give us will support us in her training going forward.
