My team and I have been speaking to a large number of people from our Broker network over this last week. The situation we find ourselves in across the country right now is having a huge impact on the renovation sector. We know that this is a challenging time for our Brokers - and we are here for you. 

The Renovation Underwriting team is committed to providing the upmost support to you and your clients; just as we always have been. 

  • Our underwriters are available to deal with your enquiries swiftly from their home offices, with our IT providing full access to each of our systems. Here’s how to contact the individual members of the team
  • Our online portal continues to serve the market to support new policy enquiries. Here’s how to access it. 

At times like this, it is more important than ever to remain in contact with your clients so that they understand their obligations and you can provide them with advice to comply. If you need help interpreting the Terms and Conditions of RUL policies, please do get in touch by phone or email. 

We know that in many cases, Works have stopped, or are in the process of stopping. Policyholders’ cessation clauses will activate automatically – with Allianz policies covering 60 days, and HSB and RSA policies covering 90 days. This means your clients continue with the level of cover they currently have for the period of time stated above. We are in ongoing discussions with the Insurers in regards to this developing situation, and we’ll keep you up to date in this regard.

We know from talking to many Brokers already that questions are arising in a number of areas – such as cessation of works, unoccupied property and policy extensions. Next week, we’re launching a new series of communications. Through email and video, we’ll bring you comprehensive advice on some of the key FAQ’s relating to the above. 

We are also developing a policyholder datasheet, that you can directly forward on to your clients to advise them on key actions to be taken in these unprecedented times.
